Admin Guide

Accessing Admin Settings

  1. Go to Confluence Settings (gear icon, top right)
  2. Under Apps, find HTML Macro for Confluence
  3. Click Configure

Editor Access Control

By default, any Confluence user with page edit permission can open and modify the HTML Macro editor. You can restrict this to a specific set of users. To enable editor restrictions:
  1. Go to Settings → HTML Macro → Access Control
  2. Toggle Restrict editor access on
  3. Add users to the whitelist by name or email
  4. Save
Users not on the whitelist will see the rendered macro output but cannot open the editor. They can still view and interact with the rendered HTML widget. Note: Confluence admins always retain access to the editor regardless of the whitelist.

Usage Analytics

The Usage tab shows every Confluence page that currently contains an HTML Macro, including:
  • Page title and direct link
  • Space name
  • Last modified date
Use this to audit what custom widgets are deployed across your instance, identify unused macros, or track down macros using outdated code patterns.

Security Configuration

See the Security & CSP guide for configuring CSP modes and domain whitelists.
