Known Issues & Limitations
1. Confluence Macros Without Markdown Equivalent
Issue: Some Confluence macros (e.g. Jira issue lists, dynamic content macros, third-party app macros) don’t have a Markdown equivalent and are omitted or converted to plain text in the export. Workaround: Review exported content for placeholder text where macros appeared. Standard content panels (Info, Warning, Note, Tip) are converted to blockquotes.2. Images From External Sources
Issue: Images embedded from external URLs (not attached to Confluence) are included as-is in the Markdown. If the external URL becomes unavailable, the image won’t render. Workaround: Upload images as Confluence attachments before exporting for reliable local references.3. Large Space Exports May Time Out
Issue: Very large spaces (thousands of pages) may hit Atlassian Forge execution time limits during export processing. Workaround: Export in smaller batches by selecting a subset of the page tree rather than exporting the entire space at once.4. Complex Table Structures
Issue: Confluence tables with merged cells, colored rows, or nested content may not convert perfectly to standard Markdown tables (which don’t support these features). Workaround: Use simple row/column tables for best export fidelity. Review and adjust complex tables after export.5. Page Restrictions
Issue: Pages you don’t have view access to won’t appear in the export tree and won’t be included in the output. Workaround: Ensure you have appropriate Confluence view permissions for all pages you want to export, or ask a space admin to adjust restrictions.6. Single-Page Mode Does Not Include Attachments
Issue: Attachment download is only available in page tree and space export modes. Single-page mode exports the.md file only.
Workaround: Use page tree mode (select only the one page) if you need the page content plus its attachments.
