Templates

Templates define the visual formatting of every PDF export. Admins create and manage templates from Confluence Settings → PDF Exporter → Templates.

Creating a Template

  1. Go to Confluence Settings → PDF Exporter → Templates
  2. Click “New template”
  3. Give the template a name (e.g. “Internal Docs”, “Client Report”)
  4. Configure the options below
  5. Click Save
The template is immediately available to all users in the Confluence instance.

Template Options

Page Setup

  • Page size: A4, Letter, Legal
  • Orientation: Portrait or Landscape
  • Margins: Top, bottom, left, right (in mm)

Cover Page

Enable or disable the cover page. When enabled, configure style, logo, accent color, and text fields. → Cover Page guide

Table of Contents

  • Enable/disable: Toggle the TOC on or off
  • Depth: How many heading levels to include (H1 only, H1–H2, H1–H3, etc.)
  • Title: Customize the TOC section heading
Configure what appears in the header on every page:
  • Left, center, and right zones
  • Available tokens: {title}, {author}, {date}, {page}, {pages}, or custom text
Same configuration as header, with the same token options. Page numbers are commonly placed in the footer center or right zone.

Watermark

  • Text: e.g. “DRAFT”, “CONFIDENTIAL”, “INTERNAL USE ONLY”
  • Opacity: 0–100%
  • Angle: Diagonal rotation in degrees

Fonts

  • Body font: Choose from a set of web-safe fonts
  • Heading font: Override the heading font separately
  • Base font size: In points (pt)

Default Template

If no custom templates exist, the app uses a built-in default template with clean typography, no cover page, and no watermark. The default template cannot be edited but can be overridden by creating a custom template named “Default”.

Managing Templates

From the Templates list, admins can:
  • Edit any template
  • Duplicate a template as a starting point for a new one
  • Delete templates that are no longer needed
Deleting a template does not affect previously exported PDFs.
